| Hellyer Flotation Plant -
1.5 mtpa - Cu/Ag, Pb, Zn, bulk concentrates |
|
| |
|
- Performed
bench and pilot testing and involved in feasability study, engineering
design, commissioning, expansion and optimisation of the circuit.
- Developed a flow sheet for the complex fine
grained Hellyer ore which was amongst the finest ores being
treated at the time.
- Tested and selected novel equipment including
large tank cells and tower mills for regrinding.
- Implemented High Intensity Conditioning
to clean oxidation products from particle surfaces to maximise
flotation selectivity.

|
| Mount Gordon -
50,000tpa copper cathode |
|
| |
|
- Performed leach and pilot testing on an
ore that did not respond to conventional processing.
- In 12 months developed the patented Mount
Gordon Ferric Leach Process which has operated since 1998
at a rate up to 50,000tpa of cathode copper.
- The Mount Gordon Ferric
Leach Process is the first successful commercial application
of pressure leach technology to copper sulphide ores.
- Supervised the testwork which allowed the
conversion of the plant from a whole-of-ore leach to a leach
of flotation concentrate.

| Hellyer
Tailings Project -
10mt at 2·8% Zn, 3·0% Pb, 88g/t Ag, 2·6g/t
Au |
|
| |
|
- Investigated a range of options to recover
precious and base metals from the Hellyer tailings.
- Developed a sulphate based pressure leach
system at bench scale with pilot testing of some unit processes.
- Tested the co-treatment of a number of
waste zinc bearing materials with the Hellyer tailings to
improve process economics.

| Chalcopyrite
Leaching |
|
| |
|
- Investigated a
range of options to convert the Mount Gordon leach plant to
treat chalcopyrite ores.
- Conducted a range of laboratory autoclave
tests to investigate the impact of surfactants on the dispersal
of molten sulphur during chalcopyrite leaching.
